MURRAY-CALLOWAY COUNTY HOSPITAL OFFERS FREE SCREENINGS, SUPPORT GROUPS AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS
Murray-Calloway County Hospital will be offering several support groups, educational events and screenings during the month of May. These events are offered free to everyone in our region.
Bariatric Support Group on Thursday, May 5 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Bariatric Solutions Office. For more info call Bariatric Solutions @ 270-762-1547.

Breastfeeding Support Group on Monday, May 2 & Thursday, May 19 from 5 - 6:30 p.m. at the Center for Health & Wellness.

National Alliance on Mental Illness on Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the MCCH Education Building (Corner of 8th and Elm). The group is for family and friends of someone diagnosed with a mental illness such as bi-polar, major depression, schizophrenia, OCD, panic disorder, PSTD, borderline personality disorder. An AARP Safe Driving Class will be held Wednesday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the MCCH Center for Health and Wellness. Kentucky insurances must offer a discount to those who complete the class. Pre-registration is required and the class size is limited. A free education event titled “Plan to Be Tobacco Free” will be held Thursday, May 19 from 1 - 2 p.m. in the Center for Health and Wellness. The program will be presented by Tracy Tubbs with the Kentucky Cancer Program. Tracy will be presenting a FREE 60-min session to teach people how to be tobacco free. The class will address addiction, behaviors, available resources, and will help smokers develop a quit plan.

Thursday, May 12 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Trigg County Senior Center, 127 Joy Lane, Cadiz KY - Blood Pressure and Osteoporosis screenings.
Friday, May 20 from 6-8:30 a.m. at Spring Creek Health Care, 1401 South 16th Street, Murray – Lipid & Glucose Blood Draw (12 hour fast is required—water is encouraged!)
Tuesday, May 24 from 6-8:30 a.m. at the Center for Health & Wellness, 716 Poplar Street, Murray – Lipid & Glucose Blood Draw (12 hour fast is required—water is encouraged!)
The screenings are free to the communities visited by Wellness Works and are provided to detect diseases in the earliest stages when there are often no symptoms.
