JACOB VAUGHAN HIRED BY MURRAY-CALLOWAY COUNTY HOSPITAL AS NEW ATHLETIC TRAINER FOR CALLOWAY COUNTY SCHOOLS

Vaughan hired by MCCHMurray-Calloway County Hospital has hired Jacob Vaughan as the new athletic trainer for the Calloway County School District.

MCCH provides school nurses and certified athletic trainers to both the Murray Independent School District and Calloway County School District as part of a commitment to community health and wellness.

Vaughan is a graduate of Calloway County High School. He then went on to attend Murray State University for his undergraduate degree in athletic training and got his masters from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in sports administration.

Vaughn will be attending practices and games for all high school sports which include football, soccer and volleyball. He will help athletes stretch and warm up, provide advice, tape joints and provide support to injured athletes, to name a few of his future responsibilities. The National Athletic Trainer Association lists strict requirements to becoming a certified athletic trainer, such as demonstrated knowledge of injury/illness prevention, first aid and emergency care, assessment of injury/illness, human anatomy and physiology, therapeutic modalities and nutrition.

In addition to providing staff, MCCH also has donated AED units to both schools, offers free membership at the Center for Health and Wellness to student-athletes and hosts numerous events such as free sports physicals for student athletes, health screenings for all students and CPR certification training for all coaches.
