Elephant Conversations:  Talking About Death and Grief

The Murray Endowment for Healthcare will host “Elephant Conversations: Talking About Death and Grief,” on Thursday, November 9 from 9 am – 2:30 pm. The seminar will take place at Yates Event Center located at 2760, State Route 121 North in Murray.

Guest speakers for the seminar include Rev. Kerry Lambert, M.Div, BCC, Chaplain for 19 years at MCCH and Charlotte Rhodes, CSW, Social Worker in Hospice, for 6 years. Together they will address some of the dynamics that face ministers and caregivers at the time of terminal diagnosis and interacting with the resulting grief.

A free lunch, bereavement resources and a copy of The Grief Recovery Handbook by John James and Russell Friedman will be given to participants. The program is limited to the first 100 to register. The deadline for registration is November 2. Tours of the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House will be offered following the seminar. This program is funded by the support of JH Churchill Funeral Home.

This program is targeted towards community clergy, church lay leaders and individuals wanting to improve their skills in communicating with dying individuals and their families along with facilitating grief recovery that comes with death and other life losses. To register, contact Keith Travis, VP of Development at MCCH at 270.762.1908 or 270.227.0253.
