Massage Therapy Overall
Massage is one of the earliest remedial practices of
humankind and is said to be one of the most NATURAL and
INSTINCTIVE means of relieving pain and discomfort.
When a person has sore aching muscles or abdominal
pains, the natural and instinctive impulse is to touch,
press, and rub that part of the body to obtain relief.
Massage is defined as the systematic manual or
mechanical manipulations of the soft tissues of the
body by such movements as rubbing, kneading, pressing,
rolling, and tapping. For therapeutic purposes,
such as promoting CIRCULATION of blood and lymph,
RELAXATION of muscles, RELIEF from pain, RESTORATION of
metabolic balance and other benefits both physical and
mental, massage is extremely effective.
