When I am a Visitor

Visitors
Most of the time you will find that visitors are good medicine. However, because rest is an important part of a patients recovery, we ask that visitors help by considering the following suggestions:

  • Only two visitors per patient at a time.
  • Keep visits brief 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Speak quietly and avoid unnecessary noise.
  • Do not leave children unattended in the hospital.

General Visiting Hours
10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Maternity
10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
except when babies are being fed at:
9-10 a.m.; 1-2 p.m.; and 5-6 p.m.
Only siblings and children over 12 are allowed.

Critical Care
6:00 a.m. - 7:00 a.m.
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
2:00 p.m. - 4:00p.m.
6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

The Emergency Department allows one visitor to remain with an adult patient.

Parking
For visitors, parking is conveniently located parallel to Poplar Street at the hospitals North Entrance. Parking is also available at the South Tower/Vine Street Entrance, Medical Arts Building, and outside of the West and East Entrance.

Smoking
In order to provide a healthy and safe environment, there is a designated smoking area located just outside of the Emergency Department. Smoking is not allowed inside the building.

Personal Security
For everyone's safety, concealed weapons are prohibited on these premises. Security is also available to provide escorts to and from hospital parking lots if needed. Call ext. 2111 or ask the hospital operator to call for you.

Banking Services
Regions Bank, BB&T, and the Murray Bank offer 24 Hour Banking. An Automated Teller Machine is located on the first floor in the North Tower near the cafeteria for your convenience.

Flower and Mail Delivery
Friends and family should send cards and letters to the patients attention, Murray-Calloway County Hospital, 803 Poplar Street, Murray, Ky 42071. Mail arriving after a patient goes home will be forwarded to his or her home address.

Telephone Service

  • Local calls: Dial 9, then the local number.
  • Long distance calls: A call must be collect, billed to a third number or charged to a telephone or credit card. Charges may not be billed to your room. To place a long distance call, dial 0 for the hospital operator.
  • Family and friends may call your room: In the North Tower, dial 762-1+ your room number. In the South Tower, dial 752-+ your room number. To call hospital extensions from outside the hospital, please dial 1 + 270 (area code) and follow the instructions above.

Cafe
Visitors are welcome in the cafeteria located on the first floor.

  • Weekend (Sat/Sun) and Holiday Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Open daily: 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Breakfast: 6:30-10:30 a.m. 
  • Lunch: 11:00-2:00 p.m. 
  • Dinner: 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Lost and Found
Misplaced items are kept for 30 days after they are found. Notify your nurse as soon as you realize your loss.

If you are at home, call Environmental Services at 762-1125.

Pic-a-Dilly Gift Shoppe
Located adjacent to the North Tower lobby, The Pic-a-Dilly Gift Shoppe carries balloons, flowers, candy, magazines, unique gifts, postage stamps, and personal care items.

Hours are:
Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday 12 noon to 4:00 p.m.

MasterCard and Visa are accepted. Call the Gift Shoppe at ext. 1275.

The Gift Shoppe is sponsored by the MCCH Auxiliary and operated by hospital volunteers. Proceeds are used to purchase hospital equipment and improve services.

Pastoral Services
Pastoral Care is available for counseling, prayer, communion, bereavement care, crisis intervention, weddings, funerals, and other spiritual and emotional support for you and your family. Call ext. 1274 or ask your nurse to call for you.

The chapel, located just off the North Tower lobby, is open 24 hours a day for prayer and meditation.

Guest Services Coordinator
If you have questions or compliments you would like to express, please call the guest services coordinator at ext. 1457 from inside the hospital or 762-1457 from outside the hospital.

Blood Bank
The Murray-Calloway County Hospital's blood bank is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. To find out more about or to donate blood or platelets, call 762-1119.

Volunteers
Our volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds, but share a common desire to help others. As Murray-Calloway County Hospital volunteers, they make their time count for something special. If your church, club, school, or civic organization would like a tour call Planning & Marketing at 762-1381. With advance arrangements, tours of the hospital are available.
