ENDOSCOPY

The Murray-Calloway County Hospital Endoscopy Department provides diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, as well as minor surgical procedures, on an inpatient and outpatient basis.  Endoscopy patients range in age from adolescent to geriatric.

The unit is staffed from 6:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  An on call RN and Endo Tech are available for emergency procedures after hours, weekends and holidays.

Nursing provides a history and assessment for each patient.  There are 4 procedure rooms including pre-op and post-op care.  The patient is started and discharged from the Endoscopy unit.

Minor procedures include but not limited to:  triple lumen catheter insertion and small skin excisions.

  • TIVA
  • MAC
  • Conscious Sedation

 

A LIST OF THINGS TO BRING

  • Your medication, or a list of medication you are presently taking, including vitamins and herbs.
  • A list of your allergies
  • If you have an Advanced Directive or a Living Will, please bring a copy of the document.
  • Lab work complete recently at another facility.
  • Insurance information
  • A driver to take you home after the procedure is complete.

 

THE MORNING OF YOUR PROCEDURE

  • Remember you cannot have anything to eat or drink after midnight the night before your procedure.
  • You may take your heart or blood pressure medications with a small sip of water.
  • Make sure you have a driver to take you home after the procedure.
  • Check with your doctor if you are diabetic before you take your diabetes medication that morning.
