Murray-Calloway County Hospital (MCCH) is proud to recognize its Cardiac Catheterization Team led by Dr. Homayuni and Dr. Lehmkuhler for achieving the highest monthly procedure volume in the lab’s history this June. This milestone reflects both the team’s exceptional dedication and the hospital’s continued investment in expanding cardiovascular care for the region.

June was a milestone month for the Cath Lab, with the team performing 80 heart catheterization procedures – the highest monthly volume ever recorded at our facility. This represents a significant increase over our monthly average for 2025 of approximately 60 heart caths. The increase in volume means more patients are receiving the critical heart care they need – right here at home. With expanded capacity and an experienced team, MCCH is now able to care for even more members of the community without the need to travel long distances for treatment.

In June, the Cath Lab saw a notable increase in procedural volume, performing a total of 80 heart catheterization procedures.

June Procedures:

  • 48 diagnostic heart catheterizations
  • 32 interventional procedures
  • Of these cases, 7 were STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction, is a severe type of heart attack where a major coronary artery is completely blocked) patients

In addition to the heart caths, the team also completed 20 other procedures. These included various diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

“I am incredibly thankful for Dr. Homayuni, Dr. Lehmkuhler, and the entire Cath Lab team here at our hospital. Their dedication, skill, and tireless commitment to patient care are evident in the high-quality outcomes and responsiveness they deliver every day. This month’s increased volume is just one more testament to the essential work they do for our patients and community,” said Jenna McAlpin, Director of Cardiopulmonary Services. “This achievement shows that our community can count on us for advanced cardiovascular procedures, delivered with compassion and close to home.”

The Cath Lab at MCCH provides a range of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including cardiac catheterizations, percutaneous coronary and peripheral interventions, renal denervation, and cardiac device implants.

With this recent growth, the hospital remains committed to offering the most advanced cardiac care available in a rural setting.
