Richard Blalock, II, MD

Orthopaedic Surgery

Dr. Blalock graduated from Murray High School prior to graduating Murray State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He continued his education at Vanderbilt School of Medicine in Nashville, TN, where he received his medical degree. Most recently he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency program at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Blalock continued his medical training by completing a specialty fellowship program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery. He has been recognized with several honorary recognitions and awards including being selected as Chief Resident in both Orthopedic Trauma and the Shriners Hospital in Houston, TX. He is also a member of the American Medical Association and Southern Medical Association. In his spare time, Dr. Blalock enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as, fishing and skiing.

Stephen Compton, MD

Orthopaedics

Dr. Compton joined the Murray-Calloway County Hospital medical staff in 2013. His practice includes sports medicine injuries, rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, carpal tunnel release, hip and knee replacement and other orthopaedic procedures. Dr. Compton graduated from Murray High School prior to graduating Murray State University Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biology. He continued his education at the University of Louisville School of Medicine where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and received his medical degree. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. Compton has been recognized with several honorary recognitions and awards including the Medical Alumni Scholarship Award, the McGraw-Hill and Appleton & Lange Medical Student Award, and being a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Upon completion of medical school, Compton was ranked 3 rd out of 153 students in his class.

Derek Morgan, MD

Orthopaedic Surgery

Dr. Morgan has worked in the orthopedic field in Murray since 2008, and is a board certified and fellowship trained surgeon. He graduated from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas and earned his medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Services. He then completed a residency program in orthopaedics at the University of Kansas School of Medicine where he was awarded Resident Teacher of the Year. He then completed a pediatric rotation at the Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis and a fellowship in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction at Stanford University.
