MURRAY, KY – MCCH is highlighting the specialized expertise of Dr. Richard Blalock II, orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist, who provides advanced orthopedic care for athletes and active adults with a focus on sports medicine, shoulder surgery, regenerative treatments, and advanced joint replacement technologies.
Dr. Blalock completed advanced Sports Medicine fellowship training at Vanderbilt University, where he developed extensive expertise in treating complex athletic injuries, shoulder conditions, and sports-related disorders using both non-surgical and surgical techniques. His advanced training and more than a decade of clinical experience allow him to deliver comprehensive, individualized orthopedic care across a wide range of conditions.
With more than 11 years of service as an affiliated Murray State University Athletics team physician, Dr. Blalock has provided medical oversight, injury evaluation, and treatment for student-athletes across multiple sports. His background in collegiate athletics shapes his approach to caring for athletes, physically demanding workers, and active adults.
In addition to sports medicine and shoulder surgery, Dr. Blalock offers robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty and AI-guided total hip replacement, utilizing advanced technology to enhance surgical precision, improve joint alignment, and support more predictable outcomes. These technology-driven approaches are designed to promote faster recovery, improved function, and long-term joint durability.
Dr. Blalock also provides Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, a regenerative, non-surgical treatment that uses a patient’s own concentrated platelets to promote healing and reduce inflammation. PRP is commonly used to treat tendon injuries, ligament strains, joint pain, and overuse injuries, helping patients return to activity with reduced downtime.
“Whether treating a sports injury, performing advanced shoulder surgery, or using robotic and AI-guided technology for joint replacement, my goal is to help patients move better and return safely to the activities they enjoy,” said Dr. Blalock. “Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, with a focus on long-term function and joint health.”
MCCH is proud to offer advanced sports medicine, shoulder surgery, and robotic joint replacement services under Dr. Blalock’s leadership, helping patients of all activity levels stay strong, mobile, and active.
