Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit at MCCH Receives 2024 Horizon Health Clinical Excellence Award

MURRAY, KY – Murray-Calloway County Hospital (MCCH) is proud to announce that its Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit has been honored with the 2024 Horizon Health Clinical Excellence Award, a prestigious recognition celebrating outstanding quality of care and patient-centered outcomes in behavioral health services. The award given was based on the following metrics:

  1. CQI data submission rate of >70%. We were at 98% for 2024
  2. Statistically meaningful improvement scores of >81%. We were at 95% for 2024.
  3. Restraint use <0.70. We were at 0 for 2024.
  4. Clinical audit score of >90%. We were at 96% in 2024.

The Horizon Health Clinical Excellence Award is presented annually to behavioral health programs across the country that demonstrate exceptional performance in clinical care, staff engagement, patient satisfaction, and operational effectiveness. MCCH’s Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit was selected from among dozens of programs for its exemplary commitment to the mental health and well-being of older adults.

The Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit provides comprehensive inpatient treatment for adults aged 55 and older, focusing on conditions such as depression, anxiety, dementia-related behaviors, and other psychiatric disorders. The program integrates medical and mental health care with a multidisciplinary team approach, ensuring holistic treatment tailored to each patient’s needs.
