MURRAY, KY – Murray-Calloway County Hospital (MCCH) celebrated the retirement of Rita Peal, Secretary for Inpatient Rehab, honoring her remarkable 49 years of dedicated service to MCCH. Family members, friends, and co-workers gathered on Friday, May 29th to celebrate Rita’s incredible career and wish her well as she begins her retirement journey.

During the celebration, Shandi James, Director of Inpatient Rehab, reflected on Rita’s lasting impact on the organization and those around her.

“Rita has put in 49 years – that is something most people cannot say, and honestly, something most of us in this room likely never will,” James shared. “To dedicate nearly five decades to one organization, rarely calling in, always getting the job done, and building relationships that turned coworkers into family truly is extraordinary. Rita has been more than an employee here. She has been a constant presence, a familiar face, a trusted friend, and a part of the heart of this hospital.”

James also noted the meaningful relationships Rita built throughout the years, adding that her kindness, loyalty, and servant’s heart have left a lasting impression on countless staff members, patients, and friends.

As Rita looks ahead to retirement, she plans to spend time with family and friends while finally checking off the list of things she has always wanted to do but never had time for during her working years.

Though she may be retiring from her position, Rita shared that her care and concern for others will continue: “I will still be in touch, and if anyone is going through something and needs prayer, please let me know so I can pray for you,” she said.

Rita’s presence, compassion, and dedication will certainly be missed at MCCH, but we wish her all the best in this exciting new chapter of life.
